Charity Hubbard - Rogue Classical Atelier
Charity Hubbard has been a professional and fine artist for over 20 years. She lives in Southern Oregon and finds much inspiration around her in landscape and people.
Charity is founder and head instructor of Rogue Classical Atelier, a bustling educational classical art atelier with two locations in the Southern Oregon Rogue Valley. The school offers a progressive program of study in the classical atelier method as well as community classes to youth, teens and adults.
The practice of frequently painting from life on location "en plein air" and people from life is important to Charity. She feels that the regular exercise of painting from life enables her to better capture life, light and a truer sense of atmosphere, even when painting from life is not possible.

Cheryl Magellen - Multi Media Portraits
Cheryl began her love affair with the drawing of portraits and figures by copying the faces of pop star personalities from magazines as a teenager. When she graduated from college, her BA degree in Fine Art focused on life drawing in graphite. It was not until 2010 that she added color to her world. Looking to fast-track her knowledge of color and paint, she nested under the wings of over eighteen artist high-fliers in Oregon, California and the Scottsdale Artists' School in Arizona. She can currently be found working and teaching online classes from her home in Prospect, Oregon and teaches in-person classes in Medford, Oregon.

Richard McKinley - Oil & Pastel
PSA-MP & HFH, PSWC-PL, IAPS-EP
Bio
Richard has devoted over 50 years to painting in pastel and oil, writing about art matters, and instructing painting workshops worldwide. He is in the permanent collection of the Butler Institute of American Art Museum and holds artist membership at the historic Salmagundi Club in NYC. He is a Pastel Society of America Master Pastelist and Hall of Fame inductee, a Pastel Society of the West Coast Distinguished Pastelist and Pastel Laureate, and an Eminent Pastelist with the International Association of Pastel Societies and has served as the organizations president since 2017. His work has been featured in numerous national / international art publications and exhibitions and authored Pastel Pointers, Top Secrets for Beautiful Pastel Paintings and The Landscape Paintings of Richard McKinley in oil and Pastel (both Penguin Random House).
Personal Statement
Attempting to portray a piece of the world with pigment has consumed Richard’s life since his early teen years. That goal led him to study the techniques of master painters – from the Renaissance to the Modern. Oil and pastel became the preferred mediums in conveying this personal vision. Choosing to work closely with nature, ‘en plein air,’ led to a much greater appreciation of the natural world. Photography, while a useful tool, is not a substitute for being there and becoming a part of the exchange of nature, eye and mind. Light is the motivating factor; without it there would be nothing. Rembrandt is quoted as saying, ‘You have but one master and that is Nature.’
“My goal is to capture a piece of the spontaneous dance of light across the palette of nature, to share an unspoken visual moment with the viewer. Like a glance - when we see something that makes us look back and linger for a moment. Haunted with the memory of something sublime.”

Veronica Thomas - Oil Painting
Veronica Thomas was born in South Africa and now lives in Oregon. She was introduced to art at age twelve, when she started attending classes after school. In 2010 she took up art classes again with Stefan Baumann. She fell in love with painting in oils and has been inspired by some favorite and famous artists like Sargent, Zorn and Sorolla. She now draws on her experiences, influences, and personal understanding from both cultures to create her own expression in art.
Veronica enjoys painting a variety of subject matter including figurative, landscapes and still-life. Her desire is to capture glimpses of the Divine, not only in nature, but also in everyday things. She strives to reflect different perspectives, interests, and subject matter through the use of color and light.

I started scrapbooking at the young age of 9, with my 4-H record books. Over the years I have expanded my love of crafting into card-making, using many different machines and mediums. I like to play with different stamps, dies & inks to create fun projects. I love my Silhouette Cameo and have fun creating custom t-shirts and cutting vinyl to create gifts for my family and friends. I have recently delved into laser cutting & engraving, using my Xtool to create signs and fun wood projects.
I tend to like balanced, fun projects but I plan on getting messy and doing some mixed media and altered art projects too!
I am thrilled to be teaching at Central Art and I hope we can create beautiful, fun projects together soon!
