Scratchboard is considered a subtractive medium, which to some may seem daunting at first. In this 4 hour, single session workshop I will break it down to show you how to approach it in a way that makes sense. We will use different tools to create textures and values. We'll also look at the different mediums that can be used to add color. Finally, we will do exercises on Ampersand (black) Scratchbord and (white) Claybord, as well as a scratch (scraper) paper to get a feel for the different surfaces, tools and techniques.
