MATERIALS

*The following supplies are my recommendations. You do not have to have the exact supplies or brands I use - if you already have materials, please bring them! My goal is to help you learn HOW to paint, not just replicate what I've done. Even if you're a beginner, however, it is important to have professional-quality paints and good paper. It really makes a tremendous difference! You can save money buying student options for the other supplies, but don't scrimp on the paints or paper.

My recommendations:

- Watercolor palette with a lid (preferably with wells for paint and space for mixing)

- At least 8x10" watercolor paper, 140 lb, cold press. I recommend Arches, preferably a block for convenience
(if you don't have a block, bring artist's tape and a board)

- Smaller, cheaper watercolor paper for practice work. I recommend Strathmore Vision Watercolor pad 6x9"

- Watercolor paint brushes - I recommend getting a flat brush, either 3/4" or 1", Rounds sizes 10, 6 or 4, 2

- Scrub brush or 1/4" Willow's Blender Velvetouch brush (Jack Richeson Grey Matters Water Media Brush Set is a great option)

- Watercolor paints in tubes  - You could get by with a warm and cool red, yellow, and two blue (like the Daniel Smith Essential Mixing set) but I also like to have secondary colors, and some neutrals like burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, and Indigo. You don't need white or black watercolor but a white gouache is useful.

- Light sketching pencil

- Kneadable eraser

- Paper or cloth towel

- Water container
