Instructor Bio:

Veronica Thomas was born in South Africa and now lives in Oregon. She was introduced to art at age twelve, when she started attending classes after school.

In 2010 she took up art classes again with Stefan Baumann. She fell in love with painting in oils and has been inspired by some favorite and famous artists like Sargent, Zorn and Sorolla. She now draws on her experiences, influences, and personal understanding from both cultures to create her own expression in art.

Veronica enjoys painting a variety of subject matter including figurative, landscapes and still-life. Her desire is to capture glimpses of the Divine, not only in nature, but also in everyday things. She strives to reflect different perspectives, interests, and subject matter through the use of color and light.

Formerly an Interior Designer, Veronica developed a basic foundation of balance, form, color, and perspective. Her work is primarily representational and traditional in approach, described as "passionate realism."

As part of her ongoing learning process she has participated in workshops with renowned artists like Kevin Beilfuss, Frank Ordaz and Thomas Blackshear. She also loves to frequent art galleries and museums to be inspired by living and the old masters. She is a member of Oil Painters of America and a part of the Grand View Art Society, as well as Masterpiece Christian Fine Art Foundation.
