What paint gives you the best qualities of both oils and watercolors, is relatively inexpensive, is easy to work with and clean up, works on just about any surface, and can be used with other paints and mediums, wet or dry? Yep, acrylics!! Acrylics are a great way to learn how to paint and their versatility allows you to express yourself in infinite ways!
Whether you are just interested in getting started in painting, or you want to expand your painting options, then acrylics is the paint that is just right!!
In this 4-hour workshop we will discuss the different types of acrylic paints and mediums, how acrylics differ from other paints, such as watercolors and oils, the many surfaces they work on, brushes and tools, and acrylics use in mixed media. We will explore the incredible range of techniques that can be used with acrylics and create a small painting of an Aurora Borealis using some basic layering and blending so you can get a feel for the ease and versatility of using acrylic paints.
Please make sure to dress appropriately. Acrylics dry relatively quickly and can ruin clothing (or make some fantastic textile art!!!). Please wear old clothing or bring an art apron.
