Special Live Portrait Drawing & Painting Sessions

For two special sessions this fall, artists will have the opportunity to work directly from a live portrait model while receiving guided instruction throughout the class.

Working from life offers an experience photographs simply cannot duplicate. These sessions will focus on observing the structure of the head, accurate proportions, placement of the features, value relationships, and the planes that create three-dimensional form. Painters may also explore color relationships, edges, and simplifying the portrait into strong, readable shapes.

This is not an uninstructed open-model session. Individual guidance will be provided throughout the class to help each artist strengthen observation, improve accuracy, and resolve problems as the drawing or painting develops.

Artists may work in drawing or painting media and approach the session at their own level of experience.
